Declare Inclusion UMC!

A grassroots witness for a truly inclusive and reconciling United Methodist Church

Our resolution was overwhelmingly adopted by the California-Nevada Annual Conference of the UMC,                                     June 21, 2014

click under “The adopted Resolution” to see the resolution and names of the 27 co-sponsoring churches. This is a resolution that grew out of the Declaration of Inclusion.

Thanks to Susan Hunn, El Dorado Federated Church, who presented it to the legislative section meeting and to  Lyn Hawkins, Elk Grove UMC for speaking for it from the floor before the final vote.
WE DECLARE FULL INCLUSION FOR OUR CONGREGATIONS We will not deny services or property use to anyone based solely upon sexual orientation. The declaration began with three United Methodist Church Councils in the area of Sacramento, Ca.  It has rapidly spread throughout The California-Nevada Annual Conference and even beyond. With the same goal in mind, there is a resolution that has been submitted to the Cal-Nev. Annual Conference for its consideration in June. Other churches are invited to sign both the Declaration of Inclusion and the resolution.

As of May 23, 2014,  60 churches in 8 states have adopted the declaration.

We hope you will review this declaration  and propose its adoption by the governing body of your church, as well as the resolution for Cal-Nev UMCs.  If your church adopts the declaration or if you have questions contact Vicki Gaugler at or 916-761-2534,  If you choose to co-sponsor the resolution for the Annual Conference, contact Don Fado at or 916-489-6964.
